I have just spent the morning in pure heaven… and that heaven is the Tjampuhan Spa in Ubud, Bali. Here below is the description of the spa that I found on their website…
“Positioned at the base of the valley mere metres away from the natural splendour of the river flow, Tjampuhan Spa is dedicated to the therapeutic properties of water. Composed of several semi-open treatment pavilions and an extraordinary hot/cold spring water Jacuzzi created within a mythical stone cavern, the spa has sourced a collection of Balinese healing and beauty treatments to alleviate the stresses of modern living. This tranquil setting evokes inner peace and overall wellness simply by re-introducing the basic attributes of Mother Nature and her bounty of herbal and flower essences.”
Well… it is the pure authentic truth!!
That place is magical… The hot and cold jacuzzis are amazing. There are also several saunas and steam rooms as indicated in the description. And the place itself is astonishing… The stone cavern has a unique vibration, surrounded by a beautiful lush green nature and the healing (supposedly) river just a few meters away keeps on creating that uniqueness. I ended up spending 3 hours there and it just seemed like a few minutes.
The biggest challenge when I arrived was to actually go into the cold (very very cold) water. I am much more at ease in the super hot jacuzzi, as most people I guess. But slowly, it became very natural to go freshen up in the cold jacuzzi after the heat of the hot spring and slowly but surely I would feel that I could stay longer in that cold bath and dig in more comfortably and more deeply in it… Just focusing on the sensation of my body, on my breathing, and after a while, I would just not feel the cold, really. I was surprised to witness my own evolution towards something I was absolutely sure I would never be able to do…
Feeling comfortable in cold water!
This method of hot and cold baths actually has many benefits for the health such as increasing energy, blood circulation, detoxification, and the clearing of negative energy too. As I walked back to my guesthouse, my whole body felt really different from any other experiences (massages, energy work etc.). Calm, relaxed and LIGHT is the most accurate feeling… I did feel quite tired though afterwards, certainly due to the detoxification. It is definitely an experience I am looking forward to doing again soon!
